Ultimate Frisbee is a great game to play because it is fasted paced and fun. when teaching ultimate to the class we all had an mp3 recorder hooked up to us so you can here what was said during the lesson. i found myself saying alright and guys a bunch of times. this all will fade away with more teaching times and practice. i thought through out my lesson i was loud and clear with instructions and feedback. being able to go back and listen to what was said is a great tool so you can make changes and become a better speaker in front of students and large groups. also what i have a bad habit at is saying the same phrase twice, i.e. good cut good cut. all these bad habits i have will all be fixed and changed with the more practice and more chances i have to see what i say.

After reviewing my video and writing a time coding sheet for it, i see the areas i need to improve on. one area is shortening the management time so it lower then 15%. Another area i need to work on is making the activity time a little bit longer so the students have more practice time to work on the skills. this all will change with more teaching time we get and the more i practice.

Feedback is one of the most important parts of teaching. Without feedback no one will ever get better or understand what they are doing. When giving a student feedback your not only helping them but your letting them know that your still there and watching for certain cues. If you do not give feedback students will keep doing the task wrong and then would want to quit because they can not perform like everyone else. Positive feedback keeps the students interested and excited to perform again because you pointed out their strengths. in the end feedback is an important part of the lesson and without it students would not get better at the skills they lack.

After reviewing my script from my mini-teaching video i did surprisingly well. I stayed away from the words 'um' and 'like' but did not really speak in tone that was appropriate for a gymnasium. Another thing i noticed that was wrong in the video was i was not enthusiastic about the lesson, which makes the students not interested. I also was not able to give feedback to the students because there was a student with no partner so i practiced throwing a ball with him. In that case i should of had him work with another group so i can help other students that were unable to perform the task. There are many things i can do to change these mistakes and with all the new teaching techniques we learned and will learn i look forward to working on them and watching them on film.
